The G1718-19-301 Oblate Vase/Lantern is a clear, mouth-blown glass vessel with a flattened, spherical shape. It sits on a pillar stem set into a solid walnut base. It suits anyone who wants one versatile decorative piece rather than several single-use accessories. Fill it with flowers, plant it up, add a candle or leave it empty as a sculptural object.
Key features
Mouth-blown glass: blown by master glassblowers into wooden moulds, then squashed by hand with wooden tools to create the oblate form.
Flame-finished rim: the rim is melted by a flame during making.
FSC-certified walnut base: a warm natural wood contrast to the clear glass.
Multi-use design: works as a vase, planter or lantern, or as a standalone decorative object.
Handmade character: because each piece is shaped by hand, small variations are part of its appeal.
Care: handwash the glass in warm soapy water and dry with a soft cloth. Wipe the wood with a damp cloth and leave to dry naturally.
Styling tips
Its low, wide shape makes it a good dining table centrepiece because it will not block conversation across the table. Try a few short-stemmed roses or floating blooms. As a lantern, a pillar candle inside gives a soft glow on a console or sideboard during evening gatherings.
The walnut base pairs well with oak, teak and other mid-tone woods, cream linen and brass accents. On a white or marble surface, the walnut adds warmth. In a minimalist living room, leave it empty and let the glass catch the light near a window.
