The Oblate glass vase is a mouth-blown vessel with a flattened, spherical shape, raised on a pillar stem that sits in a walnut base. It suits anyone who wants one versatile, sculptural piece rather than several small accessories. Fill it with stems, plant it up or light it as a lantern. It also works beautifully on its own as a decorative object.
Key features
Mouth-blown glass: blown by master glassblowers into wooden moulds to form a sphere.
Hand-squashed form: the sphere is flattened by hand using wooden tools, so each piece has its own character.
Flame-melted rim: the rim is finished by melting it with a flame.
FSC-certified walnut base: a warm natural wood base that holds the pillar stem.
Multi-use: works as a vase, planter, lantern or standalone decorative piece.
Handwash the glass in warm soapy water and dry with a soft cloth. Wipe the natural wood with a damp cloth and leave it to dry naturally.
Styling tips
Place it at the centre of a dining table or console, where its low, wide shape will not block sightlines.
Use a short, low-maintenance arrangement such as a single leafy stem or floating flowers to show off the clear glass.
As a lantern, group it with other warm-toned wood and brass pieces for a soft glow in a majlis or living room.
Walnut pairs well with cream, sand and stone tones, which suit many UAE villa and apartment interiors.
Leave space around it. This is a statement piece that reads best with fewer objects nearby.
