The Forms Crystal Growing kit turns a simple afternoon into a small science project. Children mix plaster powder with water, add crystal powder, pour the solution into a mould and watch crystals form. After 1 or 2 days, they have crystals in different shapes and colours to keep. It suits curious kids who enjoy making things with their hands, and parents looking for a screen-free activity at home.
Key features
Shaped crystals: use the mould to create crystals in different shapes.
Colourful results: edible pigment adds colour to the finished crystals.
Visible growth: children can watch the growing process over 1 to 2 days.
Complete kit: includes the pots, powders, spoon and pipette needed to get started.
Compact box: easy to store on a shelf or in a playroom cupboard.
Dissolve the plaster powder in water, then add the crystal powder. Mix the solution well and fill the mould you want. Leave it to set and check back over the next day or two as the crystals grow.
Styling tips
Set up on a wipe-clean kitchen table or a covered desk, as plaster and pigment can be messy. Once grown, display the crystals on a bedroom windowsill or bookshelf where light catches the colours. A small tray or shallow box keeps finished crystals together and makes a cheerful corner in a kids' room. It also works well as a weekend project for siblings or a party activity.
